Kylie Jenner says she doesn’t let social media trolls affect her
As she entered the Schiaparelli Haute Couture presentation on Monday during Paris Fashion Week, Kylie Jenner grabbed attention in a strapless black velvet dress topped with an uncannily lifelike lion head. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has, however, endorsed the bold declaration.
During a recent interview, the nonprofit animal rights organization released a statement regarding Schiaparelli’s dress. The fashion house’s “fabulously inventive” animal headdresses, which were also worn by Irina Shayk and Naomi Campbell, won praise from PETA’s president, Ingrid Newkirk.
She told the publication that Kylie, Naomi, and Irina’s fashion choices “highlight the beauty of wild animals and may be a statement against trophy hunting, in which lions and wolves are dismembered to appease human egotism.”
In addition, Newkirk applauded Schiaparelli for using faux fur in inventive ways throughout the whole collection, saying, “We encourage everyone to stick with 100% cruelty-free designs that highlight human brilliance and stop animal suffering.” Additionally, she urged Jenner and her friends to “expand this ingenuity to exclude lambs bloodily shorn for wool and silkworms burned alive in their cocoons.”
On the internet, reactions to Jenner’s attire were divided, with some fans admiring her daring appearance. Numerous people attacked the group for endorsing animal abuse.
