After throwing an egg at King Charles during a walkabout in Luton, a 21-year-old man admitted to a public order offence.

Harry May, a Luton resident, has been charged in connection with the incident on December 6 in Luton town centre, which was the second time an egg was thrown at his Majesty in less than a month.

May admitted throwing an egg at the King during a walkabout in Luton because he thought the monarch’s visit to a “poor area” was in “bad taste” during an appearance at Luton Magistrates’ Court.

On Friday, May pleaded guilty to a Section 5 public order offence stemming from the incident on December 6.

Charles was temporarily escorted away from the crowds by his security team after an egg was thrown at him shortly after he arrived in Luton.

After being moved to a different area, he continued to shake hands with members of the public.

The incident occurred only a few weeks after Patrick Thelwell, 23, was arrested for throwing an egg at the King and Queen Consort during a visit to York.

On November 9, the royal couple had just arrived in the city to unveil a statue in her honour at York Minster when a figure in the crowd threw four eggs, all of which missed.
