An ex-partner of Queen Elizabeth’s relative has written a heartfelt letter to Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles, regarding his children Lilibet and Archie Harrison.

The Duke of Sussex was reminded of Melanie Cable-story Alexander’s by the late Antony Armstrong-Armstrong, the first Lord Snowdon, who’d previously been in a high-profile relationship with her.

Melanie Cable-Alexander claimed that she had always refused to accept payment in order to discuss her relationship with the Princess Margaret’s ex-husband in public.

She attempted to teach Harry a lesson by advising him to refrain from adding fuel to the fire with her publicity stunts because it would be detrimental to his and Meghan Markle’s children.

“The more I said, the more I would fan the flames, and the longer the story would linger,” Melanie said when explaining how she ended up in the spotlight.

She was worried about the impact reading her mother’s words in the press might have on Jasper, the son she had with Lord Snowdon during their four-year relationship, once he was old enough to understand them.

When Cable-Alexander first met Lord Snowdon in 1997, she was a feature editor at Country Life magazine. She penned the following: “Each time I read or hear another word by him about his rift with the royals or the misery of his life pre-Meghan, I wince for his two young children. With so much dirty linen being washed in public, so many accusations flung, how on earth is it going to affect Archie, aged three, and one-year-old Lilibet, in future? At this rate, I fear Harry is perpetuating for his own children those same feelings of vulnerability, insecurity and ‘spareness’ that he himself so palpably possesses.”

The author said it took her “stoicism and guts” to weather the storm she found herself into in the late 1990s, even though she acknowledged that her “public storm” was not comparable in size to the public attention the Duke of Sussex had to deal with his entire life.

Her son has developed a “thriving relationship” with both sides of the family as a result of her stance. Added her: “Will Harry’s children be able to say the same of their relationship with their cousins, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte? Or, more likely, has Harry’s behaviour wrecked the potential bond between them?”

The marriage of Queen Elizabeth’s sister to Welsh photographer and filmmaker Antony Armstrong-Jones, Princess Margaret’s former husband, brought him international fame.

He is best known for his famous person portraits, many of which have been featured in renowned international magazines.
