Prince Harry revealed private text messages exchanged between Kate and Meghan
In his newly released book, Prince Harry revealed a number of private text messages exchanged between Kate, Princess of Wales, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
A crisis and reputation management expert claims that Prince Harry crossed a “basic but crucial moral line” by including a story about his niece Princess Charlotte in his memoir. Edward Coram-James examined the Duke of Sussex’s decision to reopen the chapter on the now-famous bridesmaid dress row, which occurred just days before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding.
To clarify the much-reported conversation between Kate and Meghan, the Duke included text messages between the two royals in his book, Spare.
Princess Charlotte, now seven, was left in tears after trying on the gown she was supposed to wear as one of the flower girls at the nuptials on May 19, 2018, according to one of Kate’s texts published in the book.
Mr Coram-James, CEO of GoUp, believes this move is damaging in terms of public relations and reputation management, especially given how “fiercely protective” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are of their children’s privacy.
“From a reputation management standpoint, the most basic element is not to be seen doing the thing that you are accusing the other side of doing,” he told.
The commentator continued that, given the privacy stance Harry and Meghan have taken when it comes to Archie Harrison and Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana, “discussing intimate details about the children of others” risks “crossing a basic but crucial moral line regarding monetising controversial stories related to children”.
