Prince Harry says he has enough stuff about King Charles William, for second book
Prince Harry revealed that he has even more gossip about King Charles and Prince William, enough for a second book.
The Duke of Sussex stated just days after the publication of his memoir Spare that he avoided mentioning some anecdotes about his father and brother because he feared they would never forgive him if he revealed them.
The original transcript for Harry’s book was twice the length of the final draught, and many details about interactions between him, Charles, and William were edited out because he didn’t want the world to know certain things.
He explained that the first draught of Spare was 800 pages long, but it is now 400 pages long.
According to Harry, as reported by The Telegraph: “It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out.”
The Duke went on to say: “There are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me.”
Harry admitted that he had 50 Zoom calls with his ghostwriter and struggled at times to decide which details to include and which to exclude from his memoir.
Spare, which was released globally on Tuesday, broke records by selling 400,000 hardback, e-book, and audio format copies, according to its publisher.
“We always knew this book would fly, but it is exceeding even our most bullish expectations,” said Larry Finlay, managing director of Transworld Penguin Random House.
