At the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival on Monday, Alia Bhatt was named Best Actress. In Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the actor performed the film’s title role last year. She also got to know seasoned actor Rekha during the Mumbai event. A special award for Rekha’s “Outstanding Contribution To The Film Industry” was also given. The two afterwards posed for photos with their awards on the red carpet for the photographers.

Rekha donned a golden saree and her hair was pulled back in her trademark bun with a gajra (flower garland) on top, while the actor wore a white saree. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Shiva in the movie Brahmstra: Part One – Shiva, shared the Best Actor prize with Alia. He wasn’t in the city, though, to choose his prize.

The actors reunited on the red carpet before the couple accepted their trophies. Alia received a kiss on the cheek from Rekha as they posed for the photographers. The younger actor grinned as they entered.

Last year, Alia made four cinematic appearances in addition to her blockbuster 2022. She made her Telugu debut with SS Rajamouli’s RRR, the follow-up to Gangubai Kathiawadi, in which she played Sita opposite Ram Charan. Also, she made her producing debut with the Netflix movie Darlings. In the Jasmeet K. Reen-directed movie, she portrayed an abused wife. The movie’s co-producer was Shah Rukh Khan.

The actor most recently appeared opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. He portrayed Shiva, and Alia portrayed Isha, his love interest. Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna, and Shah Rukh all made appearances in the fantasy adventure movie.

With Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan, Alia will make her Hollywood debut in the Netflix movie Heart of Stone this year. She will also appear alongside Ranveer Singh in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

The 2014 movie Super Nani featured Rekha’s final screen appearance. Later, she made a special appearance in the movies Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se and Shamitabh (2015). (2018).
