Los Angeles: Disney’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” has generated unanticipated hype after grossing an estimated $118 million over a lengthy holiday weekend to take the top spot in the North American box office.

Exhibitor Relations’ estimate, which outperformed forecasts, gave the newest Marvel superhero movie one of its best box office performances ever over a four-day US Presidents Day weekend.

By to Marvel’s own fantastic standards, this start is superb, according to expert David A. Gross. He asserted that “this is good business and a huge step for the title” despite the “uncharacteristically mild” reviews and audience ratings.

The movie crushed the weekend competition thanks to Paul Rudd reprising his role as the miniscule Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly’s role as an heiress with the ability to shrink to the size of a Wasp.

The 20th Century mixed-animation film “Avatar: The Way of Water,” which came in second with $7.5 million, has already amassed a respectable $2.24 billion worldwide.

This knocks away James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster Titanic, which is presently playing in theatres as a 25th anniversary special edition, from the top three positions in the all-time global box office rankings and places the sequel, which Cameron directed, in third place.

Cameron’s 2009 release of the first Avatar, which earned $2.9 billion worldwide, continues to occupy the top slot. With a respectable $7.4 million during the long weekend, Universal’s family-friendly “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” finished third overall in its ninth week of release.

The Warner Bros. comedy-drama “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” which topped the box office previous weekend with $5.8 million, came in fourth. Channing
