Directed by Elizabeth Banks, Cocaine Bear finishes a promising first weekend at the global box office. The action-comedy movie amassed $28 million in the first three days of its release.

With its release on Feb 24, the movie collected $8.6 million at the Friday box office, dethroning Marvels’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania.

The movie crossed $23 million at the US box office over the weekend. It exceeded the anticipated collection of amounts between $15 million and $17 million.

Cocaine Bear finished 3rd at the UK box office with a collection of $2 million. It amassed $5.3 million collectively outside the US. In Australia, it finished 2nd with a $1 million weekend box office collection.

Both the Netherlands and Norway had solid opening weekends. The Netherlands brought in $278K and the movie finished at No. 5, while Norway brought in $157K over 150 screens. The early screenings produced exceptionally high profits, demonstrating a connection with the youthful comedic audience that will help drive business through Stockholm’s winter break, which begins on Monday. Cocaine Bear ended with $151K and fifth place in Sweden.

Cocaine Bear earned a respectable $148K over the course of the weekend in Saudi Arabia. The movie did not premiere in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, or Oman, which lowered ticket sales in the Middle East.
