Amanda Seyfried, who played Karen in Mean Girls, recently revealed how the film could have turned out differently. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Seyfried revealed that Blake Lively almost played Karen in this 2004 high school comedy. Here are the specifics.

In a Vanity Fair interview, Amanda Seyfried revealed that she initially auditioned for the role of Regina George in Mean Girls. She was overjoyed because she had flown out to Los Angeles for the audition, where she met Blake Lively, who played Karen, as well as Lacey Chabert and Lindsay Lohan. This is what the actress describes as a very fulfilling and enlightening experience.

After auditioning on her way home, Amanda Seyfried received a call from the casting team informing her that she might be cast as Karen in Mean Girls. Seyfried believes that she was cast in the role of Karen because she portrayed the person in high school who avoided drama. As a result, transitioning as Karen was much easier at the time.

Amanda Seyfried discusses her experience

According to Seyfried in the Vanity Fair interview, they were all from different places and ages. But everybody genuinely appreciated the script and really wanted to work in that movie. Amanda Seyfried stated that she had a great time filming Mean Girls because everyone was so nice and the director, Mark Waters, was amazing.

Fans will be able to see the iconic characters return to the screen as a new musical film based on the play is being produced for Paramount+. Avantika, Tina Fey, Jaquel Spivey, Angourie Rice, Tim Meadows, Auli’i Cravalho, Reneé Rapp, Bebe Wood, and Christopher Briney are among the cast members. Tina Fey also wrote this musical film.
