The supermodel is speaking out about their split, telling Vanity Fair that a choice of that type “takes years to happen,” some five months after the former couple made their breakup public.

Gisele says the assumptions are “very hurtful” and “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard” amid rumors that the breakdown of their 13-year marriage was caused by the former quarterback choosing his career over his family in an ultimatum. The quarterback announced his retirement and then made a swift return to football in early 2022.

“Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever,” Gisele—who shares kids Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10, with Tom—told the outlet in an article published March 22. “If there’s one person, I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me. I want him to achieve and to conquer. I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart.”

Being seen as “someone who is against football,” as the Devil Wears Prada actress observed, could not be further from the truth.

“Are you kidding me?” she continued. “I learned about it! I used to joke that I was going to be able to be the ref because I’ve watched so many games. And I loved it.”

“What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle,” she shared. “It’s not so black and white.”

As Gisele explained, relationships simply tend to evolve over time.
