The group is in informal discussions to appear in the upcoming live-action Netflix project from the “Pinocchio” filmmaker.

Although it is thought that the director met with all three stars and they are on board to star, sources close to the project insist that Del Toro is still working on the script and no actors have gotten any official offers.

The director of “Hellboy” has been working on the “Frankenstein” project for some time since he’s always wanted to make a film based on Mary Shelley’s well-known novel.

It’s unclear if Del Toro’s interpretation will take place in the past or in the present. Also, it is unknown who will play Dr. Frankenstein or his creature; nevertheless, it is speculated that Goth would play the doctor’s love affair.

The director recently had success at the Academy Awards for his stop-motion animated adaption of “Pinocchio,” which won in the Best Animated Feature Film category (12.03.23).

Del Toro argued that Hollywood should give animated films more backing and take the medium more seriously.

He said: “Animation is ready to be taken to the next step.

“Animation is cinema, animation is not a genre… Keep animation in the conversation.”

The 58-year-old director has promised to pay for stop-motion classes for kids in his native Mexico, but he believes that supporting animators would take more than just winning an Oscar.

“This is an art form that has continued getting kneecapped commercially, industrially, and the kid’s table for so long,” added Del Toro, who has now won three Academy Awards.

“And it really is a mature, expressive, beautiful, complex, art form. So a win helps, but it is about going forward as a community.”
