Bollywood’s 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam, known for its musical appeal and compelling performances despite its box office underperformance, is gearing up for a sequel, according to exclusive reports. The new installment, titled Jaanam Teri Kasam, is currently in the early stages of development. The previous film starred Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, who had significant on-screen chemistry. However, the sequel will feature an entirely new cast.

A source close to the production reveals, “The makers want to make a sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam. However, it is at a very nascent stage currently. They have only started the casting process of the film, so it is still in pre-production.” Notably, the source confirms, “It will feature a new cast; the makers didn’t want to repeat the actors. The auditions are going on for the main leads currently, and they will look at the supporting cast afterwards.”

The sequel is expected to be a musical, with the production team searching for a female lead who not only sings but also embodies the aesthetic of a singer. “The film’s story will have a vibe similar to Aashiqui 2,” the insider adds. The casting process is focusing on finding a lead aged between 18 and 20 years old.
