Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s role in the 2004 film Phir Milenge has garnered renewed attention after producer Shailendra Singh revealed that Khan agreed to work for just one rupee.

The film, which also featured Abhishek Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty, centered on the life of an HIV-positive patient, a topic Singh believed was crucial for raising awareness about AIDS, especially among India’s youth.

Singh recounted that he approached several actors for the lead role, but many declined due to the character’s illness and eventual death.

It was only after these rejections that Salman Khan agreed to take on the role. Singh noted that Khan’s willingness to work for a nominal fee reflected his commitment to the cause.

Singh emphasized the importance of using cinema as a platform for social issues and praised Salman Khan for his dedication to spreading awareness through his performance. Directed by Revathi, Phir Milenge remains a significant film for its portrayal of AIDS and its impact on society.
