Actor Govinda was discharged from Criticare Asia Hospital in Mumbai on Friday morning, after being hospitalized earlier this week for a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Outside the hospital, the actor was encircled by loved ones and admirers while using a wheelchair and wearing a cast on his leg. In videos, Govinda is seen waving and grinning at the public with his wife Sunita, and daughter Tina. Tina looks emotional and wipes away tears as the crowd cheers.

Govinda was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg while cleaning his licensed revolver at home. Speaking about the incident, the actor said, “The shot was accidental,” adding that he was preparing to leave for the airport when it happened. The Mumbai police launched an investigation, although no formal complaint was filed. While authorities ruled out foul play, sources indicated some skepticism about the actor’s version of events.

Doctors removed the bullet shortly after his admission, and Govinda was kept under observation for three days. Dr. Ramesh Agarwal, who treated the actor, told ANI, “He has been asked to rest for 3-4 weeks now, his exercises and physiotherapy are continuing. He is fine. We are discharging him.” During his stay, several Bollywood stars visited Govinda, including David Dhawan, Raveena Tandon, and Shatrughan Sinha.
