Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, tragically passed away on October 16 at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A source who knew Payne during his early career described him as “a young boy, leaping around everywhere with the band, full of energy.” However, during their last meeting before Christmas 2023, the insider noted a stark change: “He just looked like a broken man. Like all his energy had gone.”

The source further added that he “mumbled when he spoke” and was “a completely different person.”

Payne was declared deceased at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel following the incident. Concerns about his behavior were raised by a 911 call, in which the chief receptionist of the hotel reported that he appeared to be “under the influence of alcohol and drugs.” The receptionist expressed urgency, stating, “We’re afraid he could do something that threatens his life,” as he reported that Payne had been “trashing the entire room.”

Payne sustained multiple injuries and “internal and external” hemorrhages, according to a preliminary autopsy conducted after the fall. There is currently no toxicology report available, according to the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office.
