Olivia Rodrigo faced a truly “Brutal” experience when she encountered legal trouble for the first time due to mistaken identity. The singer shared the humorous story in a recent interview. Fresh off completing her “Guts” World Tour in October, she appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” to promote her tour film, which began streaming on Netflix on Tuesday, October 29.

Rodrigo revealed to Fallon, “I got in trouble with the law for the first time in my life.” The songstress added, “We were going from Canada to, like, Portland or something.” She said that they were at the border control and she gave them her passport and after seeing that, “they’re like, ‘OK, whatever.’” Then they knocked on the door and said they needed Olivia.

The “Driver’s License” singer initially assumed her name was called because someone’s daughter might want an autograph. She told Fallon that, at 3 a.m., she stepped out feeling “delirious,” only to be escorted to an interrogation room where a large officer with a gun awaited her.

The cop asked Rodrigo if she had ever been arrested before, and she replied that she had not. He then questioned her certainty about that. The pop star admitted that she had gaslighted herself into thinking maybe she had been arrested and simply forgotten about it.

She revealed that “the officer told her that she could end up in prison for lying to a federal officer. The singer expressed to Fallon that she freaked out and thought that she was not going to be let in America. She revealed that she was terrified and was experiencing a panic attack.”

After 30 minutes of interrogation, the officer looked at the “Traitor” singer and asked her name. She responded by giving her full name and spelling out her last name. The officer then seemed to realize he had misidentified her, explaining that there was another girl of the same age who looked just like her and had been arrested multiple times. He informed Rodrigo that this girl’s name was Olivia Rodriguez. The singer told the host that she was “pissed.”
