Choreographer Remo D’Souza and his wife, Lizelle D’Souza, are facing legal troubles in Maharashtra, where a case has been filed against them for allegedly defrauding a dance troupe of ₹11.96 crore.

According to reports from the news agency PTI, the complaint was lodged by a 26-year-old dancer at the Mira Road police station on October 16, involving Remo, Lizelle, and five others.

The charges include forgery under section 465 and cheating under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. The allegations state that the dancers were deceived between 2018 and July 2024. The troupe, which won a television show, claims the accused misrepresented themselves as the group’s representatives and wrongfully claimed the prize money.

The other individuals named in the case include Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, and members of Frame Production Company, along with a police officer, Vinod Raut, and Ramesh Gupta. A police investigation is currently ongoing.

In addition to his choreographic work, Remo has served as a judge on various dance reality shows since 2009. His upcoming film, Be Happy, will debut on Prime Video, featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma, and is directed by Remo and produced by Lizelle. The film focuses on the relationship between a single father and his daughter.
