Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh dedicated his Indore concert on Sunday to the late Urdu poet Rahat Indori, amidst Bajrang Dal protests demanding the event’s cancellation. The group alleged Dosanjh’s “anti-national remarks” and support for Khalistan, urging the authorities to halt the concert.

Bajrang Dal leader Avinash Kaushal stated, “We will not allow such a person to hold an event in the city of Maa Ahilya. If the event still takes place, we will protest in our own way.” Despite the objections, the concert proceeded, with Dosanjh indirectly addressing the controversies.

Dosanjh invoked Rahat Indori’s famous ghazal “Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai”, reciting, ““Agar khilaaf hain hone do, Jaan thodi hai. Ye sab dhua hai asmaan thodi hai. sabhi ka khoon hai shaamil yahan ki mitti mein/ kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai.”

The audience applauded the powerful verse, which emphasizes unity and collective ownership of the land.

Responding to allegations of black-marketing concert tickets, Dosanjh remarked humorously, “How is it an artist’s fault that a Rs 10 ticket is sold for Rs 100?”

He also recited another ghazal by Indori, concluding with a bold statement to critics: “Blame me as much as you can; I have no fear of being defamed.”

The event celebrated poetry and resilience, resonating deeply with the audience.
