Abir Gulaal, the much-anticipated film starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, has officially completed its 40-day shooting schedule in London, as reported by Filmfare.

Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi of Chalti Rahe Zindagi fame, the film explores the journey of two individuals whose paths cross unexpectedly, leading to mutual healing. “Love blossoms as an unexpected consequence,” Bagdi said.

Produced by Vivek B. Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy under Indian Stories, A Richer Lens, and Aarjay Pictures, the film promises a heartwarming narrative. Khan, taking on the role of a UK-based chef, steps into a character that adds depth to his acclaimed repertoire.

According to Filmfare, Abir Gulaal will debut at international film festivals before its theatrical release, slated for late 2025. However, it remains unclear if the film will be screened in Pakistan.

This project’s completion is especially significant given the socio-political backdrop. Since 2016, an unofficial ban has restricted Pakistani artists in Indian films. A turning point came in 2023 when the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition to formalize the ban, stating, “Activities like arts, music, sports, and culture rise above nationalities…bringing about peace and harmony.”

The producers expressed optimism, stating, “Fawad has a massive global fan base, and we anticipate audiences and fans will wholeheartedly embrace this film.”
