Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is facing legal trouble after his New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana, Punjab. A complaint was filed against the singer for performing pro-alcohol songs like ‘Patiala Pegg,’ ‘5 Tara Theke,’ and ‘Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya)’ during the final show of his Dil-Luminati concert tour at Punjab Agricultural University on December 31.
The complaint, filed by Punditrao Dharenavar, an assistant professor from Chandigarh, expressed concerns over the impact of these songs on underage concertgoers.
Dharenavar has urged the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Department in the Punjab Government to issue a formal notice to the District Commissioner of Ludhiana, asking them to prevent Dosanjh from performing such songs in the future.
The complaint references a 2019 ruling by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which prohibited the playing of songs promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence at public events due to their harmful effects on young minds.
Additionally, the complainant criticized Dosanjh for wearing a ‘pagadi’ (traditional headgear) during the performance, arguing that the association of a revered symbol with such content could send a negative message to the audience. The Ludhiana concert marked the conclusion of the Indian leg of his sold-out Dil-Luminati Tour.
