Jessica Simpson announced on Monday, January 13, that she and Eric Johnson are going their separate ways after 10 years of marriage. In a press statement, the singer revealed that they have been living apart as they work through challenges in their relationship.

Simpson emphasized that she and Eric Johnson are prioritizing their three children—Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5—amid their split. She stated that they remain focused on doing what is best for their kids. “We appreciate all the love and support we have received and kindly ask for privacy as we navigate this as a family,” she added.

In November 2024, Simpson sparked split rumors while teasing new music. She shared on Instagram, “This comeback is personal; it’s an apology to myself for tolerating everything I didn’t deserve.”

Though Jessica did not specify the hardships she had faced, fans quickly theorized that her comments referred to her relationship with Johnson.

That same day, Jessica’s sister, Ashlee Simpson, addressed the rumors while walking in LA with her husband, Evan Ross. When TMZ asked whether Jessica and Johnson were heading for a divorce, Ashlee simply responded, “No.”

Meanwhile, Johnson fueled the rumors by removing his wedding ring during an outing in the city later that month, according to People.

Jessica was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006. She and Johnson first became linked in 2010, the same year he separated from his ex-wife, Keri D’Angelo. The couple married in July 2014, two years after welcoming their daughter, Maxwell, in 2012.
