Singer-actor Selena Gomez recently broke down in tears after US President Donald Trump announced a major deportation plan targeting illegal immigrants.

Selena shared a now-deleted video on her Instagram Stories, expressing her sorrow and frustration. Wearing a black outfit, she said, “I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” She also added the text “I’m sorry” alongside a Mexican flag.

The emotional video, later shared by fans on social media, drew mixed reactions. While some criticized her, one user tweeted, “There is a legal way to come into the United States. Why don’t they try that?” Others defended her, with a fan saying, “People laughing at her are so disgusting… She has the right to cry. She comes from Mexican immigrant parents. She was given an opportunity. We love you, Selena.” Another commented, “This is heartbreaking. Can you let the woman express her emotions?”

Selena later shared another note, saying, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” which she also deleted. Selena, who produced the Netflix documentary Living Undocumented in 2019, has been vocal about immigration issues. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that approximately 4,000 migrants were deported to Mexico during Trump’s first week back in office, calling it “not a substantial increase” compared to previous rates.
