Pop icon Lady Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, recently opened up about the deeper meaning behind her stage name and how she wants to be remembered by fans.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Gaga discussed her upcoming album Mayhem and her renewed passion for artistry. “Something I want my fans to know now, which is why I said I love being Lady Gaga, is I returned back to my artistry recently in a huge way of making this album,” she shared.

The Bloody Mary singer expressed her dedication to her craft, emphasizing the effort she puts into every aspect of her music. “I put so much of myself as a musician, as a producer, as a songwriter into everything,” she added.

Addressing how she wants to be remembered, the 14-time Grammy winner explained that for some, her name might be associated with her bold fashion choices, like the meat dress, but to her, it holds a much deeper meaning. “Maybe to someone else it might be the meat dress or something that I did that they remember as me. But for me, I always want to be remembered for being a real artist and someone that cares so much about a life of art,” she said.

Gaga’s much-anticipated album Mayhem is set to release on March 7, 2025.
