Mikey Madison and Adrien Brody took home the top acting honors at the 97th Academy Awards, marking career-defining moments for both stars.

Madison won Best Actress at Oscars 2025 for Anora, a Brooklyn-set comedy-drama that dominated the night with five wins out of six nominations. Known for her roles in Better Things, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, and Scream 5, the 25-year-old’s performance as an exotic dancer who marries a Russian oligarch’s son captivated audiences. Director Sean Baker wrote the role specifically for her, and she prepared extensively by learning Russian, performing her own stunts, and training in pole dancing.

Meanwhile, Adrien Brody secured his second Oscar for Best Actor with The Brutalist, a historical epic that follows a Hungarian architect who survives the Holocaust and pursues his American Dream. His powerful portrayal of Lázló Tóth earned him the win over Timothée Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan.

The Brutalist, a three-and-a-half-hour postwar epic, was nominated for ten Oscars, including Best Picture. Brody’s win comes 22 years after his first Oscar for The Pianist, solidifying his legacy as one of Hollywood’s most compelling talents.
