Karachi: The body of renowned actress and model Humaira Asghar, who was found deceased in her Karachi flat, has been transported to Lahore for her funeral rites.

Humaira’s remains arrived in Lahore last night after legal formalities were completed, with her brother receiving the body in Karachi. The funeral prayer is scheduled to be held today in Lahore’s Green Town area.

In a media interview, Humaira’s brother shared that he last communicated with her approximately ten months ago. He explained that due to the sudden passing of a close family member, the family was unable to travel immediately to Karachi, leading to the delay in claiming her body.

He also confirmed that the family has been in regular contact with law enforcement authorities, and all legal procedures have been duly followed.

Police officials, meanwhile, have stated that investigations into Humaira Asghar’s death are ongoing. Authorities are exploring multiple angles to determine the cause of death, including questioning individuals listed in her call detail records (CDRs), such as a cab driver.

Sources within the investigation revealed that data from Humaira’s mobile phone is being examined, and all her recent contacts are being questioned as part of the probe.

On July 8, 2025, authorities discovered Humaira Asghar’s body in her fourth-floor apartment in Ittehad Commercial Area. The police from Gizri, along with a court bailiff, entered the residence to execute an eviction order related to unpaid rent dating back to April 2024.

Neighbors had reported a strong, foul odor emanating from the apartment, but the smell went initially unnoticed because the neighboring unit had been vacant until February 2025. Both the main entrance and balcony doors were found locked, indicating that Humaira was alone at the time of her death.
