Coronavirus: Actor Soumitra Chatterjee taken to hospital

Veteran Indian actor Soumitra Chatterjee has been taken to the hospital has tested positive for coronavirus Tuesday morning.

Soumitra Chatterjee is Bengal’s most celebrated actor. He is known for his collaborations with filmmaker Satyajit Ray. Both made 14 movies together.

According to details, he was admitted to Kolkata’s Belle Vue hospital where his condition was described as stable with mild fever.

The 85-year-old underwent a Covid-19 test on Monday. He was taken to hospital after he received the positive results this morning. 

Mr. Chatterjee also worked with Satyajit Ray in Charulata, Devi, Teen Kanya, Ghare Baire, Ganashatru, and other films. In addition to this, he was the first actor to appear as Feluda the detective created by Satyajit Ray. The actor appeared as Feluda in two films directed by Mr. Ray – Sonar Kella and Joy Baba Felunath.
