Bollywood’s versatile actor Akshay Kumar’s mother Aruna Bhatia, who has been unwell for a few days, passed away on Wednesday morning.

Akshay Kumar mourned her death via his social media handle. “I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence,” the actor wrote in an emotional tribute.

The Housefull star expressed his deep sorrow as he shared the news of his mother’s demise. “She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti,” he wrote on Twitter.

A day prior, Kumar, who was shooting for his film Cindrella, returned from the UK to be with his ailing mother. She was said to be unwell for a few days and was admitted to the Hiranandani Hospital.

On Tuesday, Akshay asked fans to pray for his mother’s health. “Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help,” he wrote.

On the work front, the actor lastly appeared in the reconnaissance thriller Bell Bottom alongside Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi and Vaani Kapoor. It had a theatrical release last month.
