Sanober Pardiwalla is glad to see Bollywood industry shifting to a more gender equal platform

Sanober Pardiwalla began her career as a stuntwoman in Bollywood 20 years ago, when there were few women working behind the camera. Cut to the present day, and the scenario has drastically transformed. Which Pardiwalla believes is sufficient to tell the story of how women are asserting their power not just on film, but also off.
“There are many women working in many categories now when it comes to women in the profession. And I’m not only talking about stunt ladies.” Earlier on set, 80 percent of the males were men. Whereas, women were only spotted in the costume department. “However, it has entirely changed,” she added.

“There are women participating in the complete movie producing process. From light woman to art director,” says Pardiwalla, who has worked as a stunt double for almost every A-list celeb. For example, if you look at a few of sets from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, there are several female art directors that worked on it.”
She got her start in the industry as Urmila Matondker’s stunt double in Bhoot (2003). However she recalls not seeing even a single light woman.
“It was just a few years ago that I saw a female light specialist, which was such a wonderful sight to see. Or there was always a dress dada and not a dress lady. Now, I can gladly state that there are women growing up in this industry. And not just in the costumes. I’m delighted I was able to see the shift from a male-dominated set to a female-dominated set, added the expert.
