Rakul Preet Singh can always be found at celebrity yoga instructor Anshuka’s hub in the suburbs whenever she’s in town. The actress, who starred alongside Ayushmann Khurrana in Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 and will next be seen in Anubhuti Kashyap’s Doctor G (produced by Junglee Pictures) later this year, is a yoga devotee. Anshuka introduced her to the practise four years ago, and she’s been hooked ever since. It gradually soothed her and improved her ability to deal with stressful situations.

Rakul, who has had a busy run at the box office recently with films like Attack: Part One, Sardaar Ka Grandson, and five films in production, including one each with Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, spoke about the differences she sees in her life.

She says, “My journey with yoga began four years ago. I was never a yoga person. Prior to that, I used to think that yoga was too slow for me. I had this notion that I will never be able to bring myself to do it. But thanks to my guru and friend, Anshuka, I started off with the practice. And today, I am in love with yoga. By the end of the first three months, I found myself so attached to the practice. I didn’t want to skip it at all. Yoga, for me, is not just about physical fitness. It has an overarching effect on the mind, body, and soul – you’re healthier inside out. It keeps your mental and physical health in the best condition. Digestion, immunity, calmness of the mind, inner strength…yoga gives you everything and more. The way you feel inside out is great. The biggest change I have noticed in myself is that I am way calmer than I used to be. Yoga has made me calmer as a person. I can think far more clearly and deal with stress a lot better. It has aligned my mind, body, and soul. It’s not just a physical activity; it’s become a way of life for me. My mind feels so stable, like a yogic. With yoga, I find myself aligned and at absolute peace.”
