Ram Setu, starring Akshay Kumar, Satyadev, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Nushrratt Bharuccha, premiered on Diwali. After Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan, Cuttputlli was Akshay Kumar’s fourth 2022 theatrical release and fifth overall. Thank God, starring Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet, competed with it. On Govardhan Pooja day, both films opened. Both films had poor advance bookings but did well on Govardhan Pooja day.

Given that the film had a wide release on Govardhan Pooja and had more potential than it got, these numbers are no consolation. To reach a respectable total, the film must hold well over the next few days, which seems unlikely given its midweek release.Similar to Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj, which failed internationally.

If we exclude 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic, Hindi films’ post-Diwali occupancy was 25–35%, the lowest in years. Both Bollywood films need work with a combined nett of Rs. 23–24 cr.
