Imtiaz Ali has said he wants to develop a film about two famous Punjabi artists. The film will star Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra and will begin shooting next week. Diljit plays Chamkila, while Parineeti plays Amarjot Kaur. Parineeti Chopra will begin filming on December 11 in Mumbai, say insiders.

“Parineeti has been extensively prepping for the part over the last few months and is now all set to start the journey of this Imtiaz Ali directorial from December 11 in Mumbai. The schedule will be shot with breaks over a period of two months in December and January,”  a source said,  “Imtiaz, Parineeti, and Diljit have done several workshops and are now all set to take the film on floors from December 11,”

The video tells the story of Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, who were slain in 1988. Their assassination remains unsolved, which intrigues Imtiaz Ali.

Chamkila marks Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh’s debut collaboration. Imtiaz Ali and his music team will release a special CD for the film’s viewers.
