Her video shared on Instagram Reels, set to the tune of Desi Girl from the 2008 film Dostana, was captioned, “My mom just told me that she knew Priyanka Chopra in Bareilly in the 90s.” The clip shows a few photographs of her mother, dressed in an Indian outfit, and Priyanka, dressed in a striped top and black pants, hanging out together at a party. The two can also be seen sitting next to one another and enjoying some drinks.

Priyanka, then 18 years old, was born and raised in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, where she attended the Army Public School before winning Miss India 2000 and Miss World 2000. The actor visited the state once more last month in his capacity as a UNICEF ambassador to draw attention to violence and prejudice against girls.

In the Tamil film Thamizhan (2002), Priyanka made her acting debut opposite Vijay, and a year later, she made her Bollywood debut in The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. With the thriller Quantico, which ran from 2015 to 2018, she became the first Indian actor to play the lead in a US TV series. In the upcoming romance drama Love Again, Priyanka will star opposite Sam Heughan. She will also co-star with Richard Madden in Citadel, a high-profile action series on Prime Video, in 2019.
