At the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday, Shah Rukh Khan greeted Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan and touched their feet, to the delight of the audience. At the festival’s most recent opening, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, was joined by all of the performers. Mahesh Bhatt, the filmmaker, gave the actor a hug and a cheek kiss as he welcomed some of the gathered members of the Indian film industry.

Shah Rukh already has a unique link to Kolkata because he owns the Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League, so it comes as no surprise that the chief minister asked him to the inaugural ceremony. Rani Mukerji, the actor’s regular co-star, joined him on the stage where the others were already sitting. When they visited the festival, Rani and Shah Rukh wore matching black outfits. She wore a black sari with a cream border, and he wore a black tux.

Shah Rukh can be seen entering the stage with Rani and Mamta in a video posted by the news organisation. Before meeting the Bachchans, the actor, introduced as the “Baadshah,” greets the performers on stage, including legendary actor Shatrughan Sinha. He touches Amitabh and Jaya’s feet and gives the veteran actor a hug, amid loud applause from the audience. He continues by extending greetings to Mahesh Bhatt and cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Shah Rukh played a dual part in Duplicate, which was directed by the seasoned director.
