On February 3, 2023, Hansal Mehta, Faraaz, which will include seven new actors, will hit theatres. The upcoming movie centres on the actual situations that led to the deadly terrorist assault that occurred in a Bangladeshi café in July 2016. The feature film’s international premiere already took place in October 2022 at the BFI London Film Festival. Hansal revealed the powerful poster for the movie and the release date on Monday.

Faraaz is based on the actual events in July 2016, when armed robbers broke into the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka and murdered 20 patrons as well as two employees. Two police officers and five of the gunmen involved in the ensuing gunfire were among the remaining casualties. This movie is not the first to examine the assault. The same events were the subject of Saturday Afternoon, a 2019 film by Bangladeshi director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

Produced by T-Series, Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks, and Mahana Films, the next Hindi and English movie will be released soon. Zahan Kapoor, the grandson of actors Shashi Kapoor and Ramesh Sippy, is introduced by Faraaz in addition to Aditya Juhi Babbar Soni and Aamir Ali in the major cast. The movie also introduces Sachin Lalwani, Jatin Sareen, Ninad Bhatt, Harshal Pawar, Palak Lalwani, and Ressham Sahaani.

Ahead of the film’s world premiere in London, Hansal said, “Through that attack, it’s a look at our world and also a deep dive into what religion means to different people. It is a deep dive into the minds of young people. When I read the story of the people who attacked the bakery, and the people were trapped, I found it incredible – it’s a story of youth and a story of our times.”
