Accoding to reports, demonstrations by local political organizations have forced Indore theatres to cancel morning showings of Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan.

After a four-year absence, Shah Rukh Khan made a triumphant return to the big screen in his much-awaited movie Pathaan. While moviegoers from all across the country flocked to the theatres to see the film’s early morning show on Wednesday, a few Pathaan screenings in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were postponed. The local political organizations’ protests against the movie reportedly led to it, according to the news agency PTI.

Besharam Rang, a song from the movie Pathaan, sparked controversy before it even came out since it was accused of “hurting religious emotions” by many people, including politicians. According to a new report from PTI, Hindu Jagran Manch activists demonstrated with saffron flags at Indore’s Sapna-Sangeeta theatre on Wednesday as the movie premiered. Several protesters reportedly entered the theater’s grounds and ordered the audience to leave, stating they would not permit the film to be shown, according to eyewitness reports.

Activists from the Bajrang Dal also demonstrated against the city of Kastur’s cinema venue showing Pathaan. They allegedly screamed anti-Shah Rukh Khan chants. Police were soon present at both theatres.

Hence, some of its morning shows were cancelled.” While questioned about additional Pathaan performances, he stated that the law and order situation would be taken into consideration when making a decision.
