Amitabh Bachchan has revealed his upcoming project, a courtroom drama named Section 84, which is being directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. With the 2014 release of Ribhu’s thriller series Yudh, Amitabh made his small-screen fiction debut. They later collaborated on Te3n, a 2016 film that also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Amitabh tweeted about the new movie on Wednesday afternoon  “A delight once again to be in the company of distinguished creative minds for this new venture , and the challenge it provokes, for me .. #Section84 @ribhudasgupta @RelianceEnt @FilmHangar #SaraswatiEntertainment @jiostudios.”

The movie has the support of Jio Studios, Reliance Entertainment, Film Hangar, and Saraswati Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Ribhu Dasgupta, the director, stated in a press release: “I feel happy, blessed and honoured to collaborate with Sir (Amitabh) again. Looking forward to it. ”

Reliance Entertainment’s Sameer Chopra, VP of Marketing, continued, “We are absolutely delighted to start work on Section 84. Mr. Bachchan’s unparalleled superstardom paired with Ribhu’s amazing story telling craft would make Section 84 an incredible watch for audiences worldwide.”

It is unclear if the movie is about Section 84 of the Indian Criminal Code, which exempts those with impaired mental capacity from criminal culpability. The movie is a courtroom drama, according to its producers. Further information is awaited.

The most recent movie Amitabh appeared in was Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchaai, which was released in theatres in 2022 and enjoyed a successful run at the box office. The next movie he has is Project K, directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. Also, he’ll collaborate with Deepika on the The Intern Hindi version.

Furthermore to Kriti Sanon, Amitabh will appear in Tiger Shroff’s Ganapath Part 1. Vikas Bahl is the film’s director; Jackky, Vashu, Deepshikha, and Vikas Bhagnani are the producers. Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu versions of the movie are set for theatrical releases on October 20.

Code Name Tiranga, Ribhu Dasgupta’s previous film, starred Parineeti Chopra and Harrdy Sandhu. It was his first film after Section 84.
