Adam Levine’s comments on infidelity in an old interview came to light again when he was implicated in a case involving adultery.

The lead singer of Maroon 5 found himself in serious water after Instagram influencer and model Sumner Stroh accused him of having an affair with her for a year. According to her, the singer had an affair while still married to Prinsloo, who is also the father of the artist’s third kid. According to Page Six, Prinsloo, 34, is “extremely unhappy” over the allegations.

The She Will Be Loved singer said it wasn’t “natural” to be in a relationship with just one person in the 2009 Cosmopolitan interview when asked why guys cheat. “Monogamy is not innately a part of our genetic make-up. People deceive. I lied to you. And what about that? Nothing is worse than the act itself, the crooner declared.

When Levine posted a statement on social media claiming that the “indiscretion” was the “worst mistake” he “could ever make,” it appeared that he was echoing the same sentiments.

“I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life. In certain instances it became inappropriate. I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family.”

He continued, “My wife and my family are all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly mattered to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it and we will get through it together.”
