Ana de Armas sobs as “Blonde” earns a 14-minute standing ovation
At the Venice Film Festival, Ana de Armas shed a tear at the introduction of her Marilyn Monroe biopic, “Blonde.”
On Thursday, the movie received a 14-minute standing ovation, and de Armas was seen sobbing and hugging Adrien Brody, who played her co-star.
In the film, which is based on the same-named novel by Joyce Carol Oates, the actress plays Monroe. Arthur Miller, her third husband, is portrayed by Brody.
At the press conference for the movie, Brody had already lauded her performance, claiming de Armas had been able to take him “to another time and place.”
De Armas said that the position requires a lot of preparation in the UK’s Sunday Times.
“To perfect the accent, it took me nine months of dialect coaching, practice, and some more dialogue replacement sessions.” It was a terrible, exhausting torment. My brain was fried,” she admitted to the publication.
The movie’s producer, Brad Pitt, also attended the screening.
On September 28, Netflix will release Blonde.
