By finally responding to the uproar involving her boyfriend Harry Styles and his co-star Chris Pine, Olivia Wilde put an end to “spit-gate.”

The Don’t Worry Darling director defended Styles in a clip from The Late Show in response to accusations that he spit on Pine at the film’s Venice Film Festival premiere earlier this month.

In order to clear the air, Wilde stated, “Harry did not spit on Chris.”

“I think it’s a perfect example of, like, people will look for drama anywhere they can,” she remarked.

An exchange between Styles and Pine during the Venice screening of Don’t Worry, Darling earlier this month went viral online.

Styles allegedly “appears to spit” on Pine in the video while seated next to him. Pine then stops clapping and looks down.

Numerous followers stated that Styles “absolutely did” spit on his co-star after the video went viral on social media.

Some people denied the spitting allegation and asserted that the vocalist of Watermelon Sugar would never do such a thing “on purpose.”

The movie Don’t Worry Darling will be shown in theatres on September 23.
