According to a press release, she is the first Australian actor to ever win the accolade and the 49th person overall to earn an AFI Life Achievement Award.

According to Kathleen Kennedy, head of the AFI Board of Trustees, “Nicole Kidman has mesmerised audiences for decades with the daring of her creativity and the elegance of a screen icon.” ”

Kennedy continued, “She is a force who is gutsy in her decisions and bold in each performance. Her receiving the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award is an honour for AFI.

In her nearly four-decade-long career, Kidman, who has been nominated for five Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2003 for her work in The Hours, has also won a BAFTA Award, two Emmys, and six Golden Globes.

In addition to upcoming appearances in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the Amazon feature Holland, Michigan, the actress has more than 90 acting credits to her name.

Following her 2021 viral campaign for AMC, in which she is seen meandering around a theatre and awestruck by the wonder of film, Kidman was revealed to continue serving as the company’s ambassador “for another full year” by AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron during an earnings call in August.

“Given that Hollywood has amazing stories to tell, it’s evident that movie enthusiasts are ever so ready to appreciate those dazzling visuals on AMCs big single screens,” he added. “Nicole Kidman reminds us in AMC’s now legendary and acclaimed advertising campaign, ‘Given that Hollywood has great stories to tell.

The actress enters an AMC theatre during the 60-second commercial, in which she says that moviegoers “come to AMC Theatres to laugh, to cry, to care, because we need that, all of us.”

In an email to GQ in March, Kidman, who played a significant role in the advertisement’s creation, said, “I can’t tell you why it worked or why it’s gone viral.”

But I can tell you that the number of people returning to the movies in cinemas is what really caused the reaction. And that’s thrilling,” she continued.
