Alec Baldwin filed a lawsuit against the “Rust” armorer and other cast and crew members for negligence after they gave him a loaded revolver on the set, killing the movie’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins.

For failing to ensure safety on set, the actor took action against four crew members: Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, Dave Halls, Sarah Zachry, and Seth Kenney.

According to several media sources, Baldwin’s attorney, Luke Nikas, stated in the countersuit that “this tragedy occurred because real bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun.”

“Gutierrez-Reed failed to thoroughly inspect the bullets or the gun, Halls failed to do so but still declared the gun to be safe before giving it to Baldwin, and Zachry failed to disclose that Gutierrez-Reed had been behaving recklessly off set and was a safety risk to those nearby,” Nikas continued.

The defendants must “be held accountable for their actions,” he stated, adding that Baldwin “seeks to vindicate his reputation.”

According to the New York Times, Kenney, who furnished every firearm used in the film, is charged in Baldwin’s lawsuit of “haphazardly” hoarding every round of ammunition. The armorer and prop specialist, Zachry and Gutierrez-Reed, allegedly failed to keep track of all the live rounds on the set, according to an F.B.I. inquiry, which he also cited.

He thought the gun was “cold,” but while he was practicing for a role in the Western film, the Oscar-nominated actor unintentionally pulled the trigger.

Before Hutchins was injured in the chest, the director Joel Souza was shot in the collarbone.

Four months after the cinematography was killed, Hutchins’ family filed a complaint against Baldwin in February.

Baldwin, who has denied any participation in Halyna’s death, reached an undisclosed deal with the deceased’s family, including her husband Matthew Hutchins, who will now work as an executive producer on the film and receive a percentage of the profits.

“I don’t want to make confessions or point fingers” (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). We all believe that Halyna’s death was a tragic accident, Matthew once told Deadline.

Baldwin and the family have reached a settlement, but he is still dealing with other claims stemming from the same horrible incident.
