Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show will feature Johnny Depp, prompting online fury and calls to boycott the singer’s lingerie.

The 59-year-old actor, who claimed he was backlisted by Hollywood after his high-profile legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, filmed his cameo in the runway spectacular, which premieres on Amazon Prime Video next week. CNN confirmed Depp’s appearance despite his absence from publicity materials and the show’s trailer. Rihanna and Amazon didn’t immediately comment on Depp’s casting.

Amazon calls the label’s fourth event a “seductive fashion fever dream” with performances by Anitta, Burna Boy, Cara Delevingne, Simu Liu, and TikTok star Bella Poarch. Depp’s presence prompted fans to demand Rihanna erase his scenes.

“Editing staff better be out here removing this man out of this,” read one Instagram comment on Savage X Fenty’s show promotion.

Some Twitter users threatened to boycott the label using #DitchDepp. Music producer Drew Dixon called the actor’s casting “very sad,” while British singer and actor Olly Alexander revealed on social media that he “won’t be wearing” the brand anymore.

Some users doubted Depp’s inclusion since the show wouldn’t air until Wednesday. “For those angry,” tweeted author Art Tavana. “Rihanna doesn’t do this. Her brand is impenetrable.”

After his 2017 divorce, Depp sued Heard for $50 million for her Washington Post op-ed calling herself a “public figure symbolizing domestic abuse.”

Heard subsequently countersued him for $100 million, resulting in a dramatic public trial in which both were found liable for slander, but Depp received much bigger damages.

Depp has disputed allegations he assaulted Heard during their marriage. Some of Depp’s followers likened his claim of domestic violence to Rihanna’s mistreatment by Chris Brown. “Survivors supporting survivors,” tweeted one supporter of the singer’s casting.

Depp claimed Heard’s charges caused him to be dropped from future “Pirates of the Caribbean” films during the six-week trial. After losing his UK libel case against a British publication over domestic violence charges, the actor left the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise.
