Amy Robach couldn’t risk her career for T.J. Holmes, says friends
T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach won’t be appearing on American televisions when they wake up any time soon.
The co-anchors of GMA3: What You Need to Know, who were recently replaced as co-hosts of the Good Morning America spin-off, “shall stay off-air until the completion of an internal review,” the News president Kim Godwin said in a memo to colleagues dated Dec. 12 that was obtained by News.
“I understand that the continuing coverage can be distracting from the incredibly important work our team does here at News,” Godwin wrote in the memo, explaining that there will be a “rotation of anchors at GMA3 for the time being.”
She added, “It is my hope that we will continue to focus our energy on what we do best, and I want all of you to know how immensely proud I am of your hard work and professionalism.”
Since December 5th, Robach and Holmes have been absent from GMA3. Gio Benitez and Stephanie Ramos have been filling in as the afternoon show’s co-hosts while they are away.
When a video showing Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45, cuddling in Upstate New York was published by the Daily Mail earlier in November, rumors that the two were involved behind the scenes began to circulate. The co-hosts both shut down their own Instagram accounts shortly after pictures from their holiday appeared online.
Since 2010, Robach has been wed to Andrew Shue, a former cast member of Melrose Place. She has two daughters from a previous union and is Shue’s stepmother to the three children he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Harney.
Marilee Fiebig, an attorney, and Holmes were married in 2010. Sabine, the couple’s 9-year-old daughter, is also Holmes’ father to two other kids who are older.
Although Holmes appeared to make light of the romance speculations when the pictures surfaced online, neither anchor has officially addressed the claims.
“It’s too bad it’s Friday, you know. It’s been a terrific week,” he stated in the GMA3 segment on December 3; in response, Robach cracked, “Speak for yourself.”
Robach continued, “Like everyone else, I am incredibly eager for the weekend. Around here, at least some of us enjoy our Fridays.”
