Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary by writing a letter to each other and to their 3-year-old daughter Radix.

“In Love, Inspired, Happy and Grateful. 8 years married, side by side, and now a little one for us to guide,” Benji wrote on Instagram on Jan. 6. “Let’s do 80 more and then forever happy anniversary 1•5• @camerondiaz.”

The heartfelt message was sent along with a picture of an artwork that includes two roses, a flower vase, and the guitarist for Good Charlotte’s initials.

Benji’s twin brother Joel Madden and his wife Nicole Richie, who is also Cameron’s close friend, helped Cameron and Benji’s passion blossom years before they would commemorate their union with a picture of flowers.

Nicole and Joel didn’t set up Cameron and Benji, but it was because of them that they ended up in the same room. When Cameron first saw Benji, she was immediately stopped in her tracks.

“I was like, ‘How come I didn’t see him before?'” Cameron recalled in a 2021 episode of the Anna Faris Is Unqualified podcast. “I saw him walking towards me and I was like, ‘He’s hot, I haven’t seen him before.'”

Cameron envisioned her future after getting to know Benji for who he really is and not just his appearance.

That’s what really made me go, “Ohhh, you,” she added. “‘You, you’re special. You are the one. The secret treasure in my life is you.”

Even now, years later, Cameron still seems to care deeply for her spouse.

“He’s just a guy I can count on,” she said during the March 8 episode of Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast. “He’s hilarious and he’s so funny. And he’s the best dad ever. I could cry, he’s just the best.”
