Zack Snyder’s response to the space opera subgenre is Rebel Moon, a project that will see elements of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai given a sci-fi twist. With the all-star cast that director Zack Snyder has put together for the movie, we’re eager to watch it. Earlier this month, Netflix stated that the movie will be available on the streaming service later this year. A reporter met one of those actresses, Cleopatra Coleman, during the Sundance Film Festival where she was promoting her next movie, Infinity Pool.

After a really enjoyable conversation with the Infinity Pool actors, Nemiroff pulled out a few difficult questions for her subjects, including one directed at Coleman to get her talking about Synder’s movie. Nemiroff noted that Rebel Moon was originally intended as a Star Wars pitch, which made her question whether Coleman could preview what viewers of that and similar franchises may expect from the movie. Coleman jokingly said that it was a difficult topic to answer, but after some thought, she referred to Snyder’s distinctiveness as a director, saying:

“There isn’t much I can say, but I will mention that Zack is another director that takes great pleasure in his work. He approaches it with such zeal, operates cameras, works alongside everyone, and has constructed a magical world. I predict that people will really enjoy the action. The stunts are going to look really gorgeous since the actors worked incredibly hard on them. It will be incredible. That is all I really have to say. I can’t part with it. [Laughs]”

Rebel Moon was made possible by a first-look agreement between Snyder’s The Stone Quarry and the streamer, who quickly approved the space opera and revived the idea of a war-torn country in a galaxy far, far away. This follows the success of Snyder’s Army of the Dead at Netflix. Rebel Moon Part 2 is reportedly already in the works at the streamer, suggesting that Netflix is optimistic that the movie will serve as the starting point for a large-scale series of its own even before it opens.
