  • The sequel to The Nun, which started filming last fall, will once more follow Taissa Farmiga.
  • The psychological thriller missing, which will star Reid and is a spiritual sequel to 2018.
  • Farmiga reprises her role as Sister Irene, the main character from The Nun, in the sequel.

The sequel to The Nun, which started filming last fall, will once more follow Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene as she encounters Valak, the titular demon dressed as a nun. Additional narrative elements are currently being kept under wraps, however, news has received an interesting update on the movie. The source spoke with Storm Reid about her first foray into the enormously popular horror franchise before the release of her new film Missing.

Despite the fact that Reid claims she “isn’t a big horror film person,” the actress has a full schedule of horror or horror-related films this year. Prior to the September release of The Nun 2, viewers may catch Reid in the television series version of the adored video game The Last of Us as Riley, a survivor in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by a lethal virus, opposite Bella Ramsey. The psychological thriller missing, which will star Reid and is a spiritual sequel to 2018’s Searching, will also be released in theatres later this month.

Reid said that she was “very anxious reading the screenplay” during their conversation. Reid had told herself, “If this is not how I move through the world, if this character does not connect with who I am as a person, I’m not doing it,” before accepting the role in the horror film. Fortunately for us, Reid was caught off guard by the figure. She continued by explaining:

“The character I play is incredible. I think she really adds some funkiness to the story and I love that. It is scary, but there are so many character arcs in the film and so many emotions and journeys that the characters have to go through, I think it works perfectly, [and is] something that is going to turn into a thing that people really love to watch.”

Storm Reid Praises Taissa Farmiga, a Co-Star in The Nun 2

Reid has little more to say about the shadowy persona she plays in the movie, but she was very kind of her co-star. Farmiga reprises her role as Sister Irene, the main character from The Nun, in the sequel. The young nun was the focus of a demonic entity determined to undermine her faith in the first movie, which was released some years before the major Conjuring movies. Reid remembers being in awe of Farmiga on-site during recent French filming. She uttered:

“She is brilliant always, but there are a few scenes [that] she would do and I’d just shake my head and be like, ‘You just killed that. Amazing job. You go girl!’ But I love giving people their flowers. It’s motivating, it’s empowering, and it’s cool to see people be good at what they’re doing.”

The Conjuring 4 has been promised, therefore fans of the series are expecting that The Nun 2 will further cement its connections to the original films despite the lack of further details. The Nun 2 arrives in theatres on September 8, 2023, but you may see Reid this weekend when The Last of Us debuts on January 15 and on January 20 when Missing enters theatres.
