Ben Platt and Noah Galvin are remembering a memorable evening. On PBS News Week on Thursday, Platt, 29, and Galvin, 28, talked openly about the night they got engaged in November. After toasting the couple, who co-star in the recent movie Theater Camp, Platt said, “I believe I did very well, in terms of setting up the engagement.”

Platt responded, “Well, we will leave some of the facts to ourselves, but I will just say I shocked him when I told him I was going him to dinner with his sister,” when Nawaz requested the couple to offer “an engagement tale.”

Then Galvin jumped in and said, “I’ll just say it looked like The Bachelor set,” to which Platt replied, “Well, it was with brighter colors.”

“Galvin remarked, “It was beautiful,” and Platt concurred, “We spent the night with our families and some friends eating dinner. It excelled.”

The Broadway cast members of Dear Evan Hansen, Platt, and Galvin shared their engagement news on Instagram in November. Platt highlighted the ring in images of the proposal and captioned them, “He promised to hang out forever. “I said yeehaw and then cried for like 7 hours,” Galvin posted on his page.

A month later, Platt released touching photos from the couple’s engagement on Instagram, giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the memorable moment.

He began the carousel with a picture of him and Galvin surrounded by family members, then showed a cute picture of the two of them cuddling, among other pictures. More gratitude to everyone who contributed to making it exceptional, Platt captioned the picture.

In November 2017, Galvin’s appointment as Platt’s replacement in the Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen was confirmed. From there, the two forged a deep friendship that, a few years later, grew into love.

Galvin’s appearance on a Little Known Facts with Ilana Levine podcast episode in May 2020, when the couple first publicly acknowledged their relationship, was the turning point.

In a later interview with Kelly Clarkson, Platt described how their friendship began five years ago and how they finally decided to give their relationship a chance just before the epidemic. For a while, “we kind of skated around it.”
