Kodak Black is currently the subject of an arrest warrant in Florida. According to court documents, a Following a drug trafficking arrest in July, the Grammy Award nominee, 25, tested positive for fentanyl during a pre-trial drug test earlier this month. On Friday, a Broward County judge issued the warrant for his arrest.

Black’s legal counsel did not immediately reply to a news reporter’s request for comment.

Black, whose actual name is Bill Kapri, allegedly refused to take a mandatory drug and alcohol test on February 3 and then allegedly failed a second drug test five days later. According to the judge’s order, Black must remain in custody without bond until his court appearance on April 6.

Black was arrested in a Fort Lauderdale jail in July of last year and later freed on $75,000 bail after being accused of trafficking oxycodone and possessing a prohibited substance.

Police stopped the Back for everything artist after noticing his car’s tinted windows “looked to be darker than the legal limit,” and upon further inspection found that both his license and vehicle registration had expired.

Officers searched the car after smelling marijuana and allegedly discovered over $75,000 in cash and a small transparent bag with 31 oxycodone tablets.

The news reported at the time that they will “go forward with resolving the case soon,” according to his attorney Bradford Cohen.

Cohen added, “Never assess a case solely on an arrest. There are situations and facts that support a defence, particularly in this instance.

Black has had multiple run-ins with the law in the past, most notably being detained for trespassing on New Year’s Day in his birthplace of Pompano Beach, Florida, last year.

In February 2016, he was also confronted with claims that he had sexually abused a teenage girl. Afterwards, Black agreed to a deal to admit to first-degree assault and battery in exchange for having his sentence reduced from 10 years in prison to 18 months of probation.

In the years that followed, Black was sentenced to nearly half of a four-year prison term for a variety of drug and weapon-related offences, before former President Donald Trump reduced Black’s sentence on his last day in office in January 2021. Black was described as “a prominent artist and community leader” by the former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany at the time.
