The Exchange is getting ready to pitch Nobody Nothing Nowhere, the 2018 Blacklist and Sundance Screenwriter Labs original screenplay, to foreign investors. The project will be led by Emmy winner Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer, and Emmy nominee Lucy Liu before it is made public. While seasoned producers Josh Penn and Michael Gottwald of the Department of Motion Pictures and Allison Rose Carter will produce with the three stars, screenwriters Rachel Wolther and Alex H. Fischer are scheduled to helm their screenplay.

Ruth is the main character in the high-concept sci-fi comedy Ruth Nothing Nowhere. Ruth is one of a group of human-like creatures known as Non-People. The only remaining actual human on Earth, a boring guy named Dave, needs the Non-People to fill the gaps in a realistic reality. Ruth soon demands a life free from Dave after growing tired of her lengthy existence as a supporting character with little choice.

Wolther, who has primarily written and directed short films up to this point, will make his feature directorial debut with the movie. She previously worked with Fischer on the comedy-adventure short Snowy Bing Bongs across the North Star Combat Zone. Sunita Mani from Spirited’s Save Yourselves! is the only feature Fischer has to his credit alone.

The writer-director team takes a big stride forward with Nobody Nothing Nowhere thanks to its stellar ensemble and illustrious producers. Beasts of the Southern Wild, a four-time Academy Award candidate, was previously produced by Penn and Gottwald, and Carter’s credits range from American Honey, Zola, and the Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All At Once. Executive producing alongside Christina Campagnola is Brian Clisham and Stephanie Kluft of Orit Entertainment, Brian O’Shea, Nat McCormick, Caddy Vanasirikul of The Exchange, Blair Ward, and Anders Erden of Orogen Entertainment.
