The 2023 movie season promises to be filled with a tonne of excellent movies. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the biggest movie coming out this year if you’re a gamer. The April premiere of the animated feature from Illumination and Universal Pictures is based on the immensely popular Nintendo franchise of the same name. The brilliant grandeur and vibrant epic size of the journey are now showcased in a new Super Mario Bros. poster.

All of the major players in the Mushroom Kingdom are depicted on the poster. Chris Pratt’s Mario, Charlie Day’s Luigi, Anya Taylor-Princess Joy’s Peach, Seth Rogen’s Donkey Kong, and Keegan-Michael Key’s Toad all strike positions that are very similar to those of their video game counterparts. But the villainous Bowser (Jack Black), king of the Koopas, towers over our heroes and is up to no good.

In the distance, his army of Koopa Paratroopas is soaring like the monkeys of the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz, while below them, Kamek (Kevin Michael Richardson) is working his nefarious magic. This poster has a ton of fantastic details that flawlessly display Illumination’s stunning animation. The Mushroom Kingdom’s brilliant blue skies contrast wonderfully with the blazing inside of Bowser’s volcano palace. This movie seems to offer a ton of visual variation, just like the games that served as its inspiration.

One thing that cannot be argued about the Mario movie’s voice cast, especially in relation to Pratt’s portrayal of Mario, is that those in charge of it don’t like the universe Nintendo established nearly forty years ago. Everything, from the music to the countless references to the animation that was already noted, is flawless. This captivating tale, which is a love letter to Mario and the entire Mushroom Kingdom, has already been introduced through the trailers. Not just for his primary platformer games, but for the entirety of his franchise.
